Program Philosophies
The East Coast Ice Hockey Program was founded by Andrews Hockey with the purpose of advancing the development of youth in the Maritimes through sports and education.

East Coast Ice's 3 Main Objectives:
  1. To Develop Players’ Leadership Skills
  2. To Develop Players’ Hockey Skills
  3. To Win Games

The Program is ultimately designed to prepare players for education and hockey scholarship opportunities in the future through Andrews Hockey’s Atlantic Hockey Showcase and Atlantic Female Prospect Camp.

The East Coast Ice Program was designed for the development of the players, not winning. This means that all players play equally during games and get a chance to play in all situations that they may not get to experience during their minor hockey season. That is also why practices, rather than tournaments are stressed as the most important aspect of the program. Players get approximately 10-12 minutes of playing time each game, and that is not nearly enough ice time to facilitate player development. This development model has proven itself to be very successful. Since the first group of Andrews spring hockey players started, over 15 former Andrews spring hockey players from PEI have been drafted into the NHL.

Andrews Hockey Growth Programs have been training hockey players of all abilities since 1979 with the understanding that successful development as a hockey player is the product of complete personal growth. Through scientifically researched on-ice training programs, professionally developed off-ice training and well balanced classroom sessions on topics such as nutrition and goal-setting, we strive to stress the importance of healthy living and personal excellence.

Over 30 years of continual research, improvement and experience with hockey players from around the globe is translated into the teaching of every drill, lesson, and exercise. Our hockey school staff are hand picked hockey school graduates; these individuals love hockey, love teaching and are dedicated to providing the best instruction and assessment as well as serving as everyday role models.
