2 Line Hockey Program Description

2Line Hockey League Format

League Concept
The East Coast Ice 2Line League was designed to give the players that were not selected for one of our Elite or AAA teams maximum development in a fun environment in the short 6-7 week spring season. Each team will have 10 players and 1 goaltender per team (along with 1-2 Sub Players and 1 goalie who practice (depending on division) and fill in), which gives the players a significant amount of exposure to coaches’ feedback and will get them on the ice every second shift to work on the skills they have practiced.

Novice, Atom, Peewee Divisions

To make things as competitive as possible, we will be tiering SOME of the Novice leagues this year to Tier 1 and Tier 2 for mainly second year players (Tier 1) and mainly first year players (Tier 2). Other age groups may be tiered for the final weekend based on the results of the regional games.

Each 2Line team will have 6 hours of High Tempo Skill Development Sessions (1 practice per week) and will have the chance to play 6 Local (in most regions) 2Line Hockey League games (1 per week). The League will finish off with the 2Line Showdown Tournament in PEI to finish the season, where teams will play 4-6 games.

Bantam Division
Our Bantam Division will include 2 optional tournaments that teams can register in. If teams would like to purchase practice ice, they can contact the regional coordinator.

ECI Personal Growth Program
This is a aspect of the programs is provided in our Novice-Peewee Divisions of the program and is a Comprehensive manual given to players by their coaches that includes:
  • Technical Hockey Skill Homework
  • Smart Shooting
  • Puck Control
  • Skating Development
  • Character & Leadership Development Homework
  • Articles and exercises on topics, such as Attitude, Adversity, Teamwork etc…
Team Selection

The team must be comprised of 6 forwards, 4 defensemen and 1 goaltenders. Each team will also have 1 forward, 1 defenseman and 1 goaltender as sub players, who will practice and fill in for their respective positions, when need be.

There may be an ID Session in Late February, where players can come out in order for coaches to select the most equal teams possible. Coaches may also select their teams by identifying players through minor hockey.

If a player wishes to play but does not have a team, they can place their name on the Free Agent List and we will do our best to secure a spot on a team requiring players. There is no guarantee that we will find a spot, but most free agent players will be offered a spot on a team.

As we base the registration on a full roster of 11, we do not offer an open refund policy.

Sponsorship Program

Players have the opportunity to fund-raise and get sponsors to help cover the cost of their spring hockey expenses. Funds collected through the Sponsorship Program go directly to the player.
